Edson Barton

Edson BartonEdson King Barton is Executive Vice President of ProCert Labs. He joined ProCert Labs as a senior partner in April, 2003 and is responsible for sales and business development initiatives.

Mr. Barton brings additional leadership quality to ProCert Labs with over eleven years of successful management experience, with emphasis in business and sales channel development.

Before joining ProCert Labs, Mr. Barton spent over three years as director of business development and ICV sales at Certiport, Inc. In this capacity, he managed sales, marketing and product development activities of the Microsoft Office Specialist Program for Microsoft, and the IC3 Program for Certiport. His work focused on bolstering the publishing channel as well as secondary, post-secondary, and corporate education markets.

Among his successes at Certiport is the development of the ICV sales channel for both Microsoft and IC3 programs. Barton leveraged untapped channel and program resources to increase revenue from a company-subsidized program to one generating over $1 million of sales in the first year. He also accelerated program revenue growth rates by creating and strengthening strategic partnerships with Microsoft regional subsidiaries, expanding relations with international and regional distributors, and directing channel sales campaigns.

His success with Certiport’s programs is apparent in customer satisfaction survey results, which showed improvement of 30 percent across all program categories under his direction.

Previous to his tenure at Certiport, Edson accumulated valuable experience in government and state academics as the executive director of Kids Voting Utah. Raising awareness for voting among school-aged children, Edson garnered endorsements from the governor of Utah, Lt. Governor, U.S. senate and congressional representatives, Utah Board of Education, state, county and municipal officials, major area corporations and other NPOs.

Based in Montevideo, Uruguay, Edson also leveraged his mastery of the Spanish language to help Genesis Laboratories, Inc. introduce new products, develop new distribution channels, and to secure product registration and usage permits from the Ministry of Agriculture of Uruguay.

Edson holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing communications from Brigham Young University and enjoys philosophy and Spanish, which he speaks fluently. His international experience is well-rounded, with extensive business and personal experience in South America.
